With this work, Personal Affects, I have taken references from the colour palette of the place they call home, Gordon’s Bay. Specifically drawing on the textures of the local flora and ocean currents of this unique and beautiful cove. Taking this as a starting point, I created a work that incorporates cast-off materials from the client’s family life.
The work has been pieced together strand on strand from waste textiles embedded with latent personal, historical and environmental meanings Including, school ties, work ties, baby blankets, old jeans, city banners, bed linen, cotton jumpers, and horse racing sashes.
